Galloping Horses
Galloping Horses brings together two individual driftwood horse sculptures, Solaris and Mercury. Presented side by side, each horse has its own scale, stance and character while sharing the sense of movement created through layered driftwood and an internal recycled marine-grade stainless steel armature.
Solaris
Solaris is the horse shown on the left in Galloping Horses. The sculpture captures the animal in a powerful forward stride, with the extended legs, lowered body and flowing driftwood creating a strong impression of speed and momentum. Layered pieces of driftwood define the musculature, mane and movement of the horse while the concealed armature supports the extended form.

Mercury
Mercury is the horse shown on the right in Galloping Horses. Its running pose combines an extended body with lifted legs and a sweeping tail, giving the sculpture an immediate sense of movement and balance. The driftwood follows the structure of the horse through the head, neck and body, with the recycled stainless steel armature providing strength beneath the sculpted surface.
